What we take, how it is graded and the small bits of prep that lift what you get paid. Rates move daily, so the price comes from a phone call rather than this page.
Metals by category
Non-ferrous
AL
Aluminium
Cans through to truck wheels. Clean extrusion pays well above mixed alloy, so it pays to keep the two apart.
Clean extrusion, window and door frames
Cast, gearbox and pump housings
Alloy wheels, on or off the tyre
Sheet, cladding and roller doors
Cans, loose or crushed
Steel screws and rubber seals drop your grade. Pull what you can and we will sort the rest.
BR
Brass
Old taps, fittings, valves and gate hardware. Plumbers bring us drums of it after a bathroom strip out.
Yellow brass, taps and fittings
Red brass, valves and bearings
Brass turnings and swarf
Radiator brass with copper fins
Leave the chrome plating on. It does not change the grade.
CU
Copper
The best paying metal in the yard. Offcuts, tube, busbar and wire all get weighed and paid the same day.
Bright and shiny bare wire
Copper 1, clean tube and offcuts
Copper 2, painted or soldered
Insulated wire, priced on recovery
Keep bright wire away from painted tube if you want the top grade for each.
PB
Lead
Roof flashing, old pipe, wheel weights and dive weights. Heavy for its size, so small loads are still worth bringing in.
Lead sheet and flashing
Lead pipe
Wheel weights
Lead cable sheathing
Keep it separate from other metal so it is easy to weigh on its own.
SS
Stainless steel
Kitchen benches, food grade tanks, balustrade and exhaust work. We test grade with a magnet and an analyser.
304, benches, sinks and balustrade
316, marine and food grade tanks
Stainless swarf and turnings
Tell us if it came off a food site. Grease and product residue has to be cleaned off first.
Ferrous
FE
Steel and mixed metal
The volume metal. Beams, plate, fencing, sheds, machinery frames and the mixed light steel from a clean out.
Heavy steel, plate and beam over 6mm
Light gauge, sheds, fencing and roofing
Mixed light steel from clean outs
Cast iron, baths, pipe and machine bases
Timber, concrete and plastic have to come off. Anything sealed or pressurised is refused.
Vehicles and machinery
CAR
Car bodies
Cash for scrap cars, utes and vans, running or not. We tow it away and handle the paperwork with you.
Complete car, ute or van bodies
Stripped shells
Boat trailers and box trailers
Farm and yard machinery
Have the rego papers and photo ID ready. Fuel, oil and batteries are drained and recycled separately.
EM
Electric motors
Pool pumps, air conditioning compressors, workshop motors and pallets of motors from a factory refit.
Small motors under 20kg
Large motors and compressors
Alternators and starter motors
Sealed units, priced on copper recovery
Sealed compressors are fine as they are. We degas air conditioning units properly.
RAD
Radiators and heat exchangers
Car radiators, air conditioning coils and industrial heat exchangers. Copper and brass units pay well above aluminium.
Copper and brass radiators
Aluminium and plastic radiators
Air conditioning coils and condensers
Drain the coolant before pickup. We handle refrigerant recovery on site.
Batteries and e-waste
BAT
Batteries
Lead acid batteries are paid on weight. Lithium and other chemistries are taken for safe recycling.
Car and 4WD lead acid batteries
Truck and forklift batteries
Deep cycle and solar bank batteries
Lithium ion packs, handled separately
Damaged or swollen lithium packs need to be flagged before pickup so they travel safely.
EW
E-waste
Office clear outs, server racks, comms cabinets and data cable. Recovered for the metal inside, not resold as gear.
Computers, servers and switches
Circuit boards, sorted by grade
Data cable and patch leads
Appliance and cabinet metal
Tell us if drives hold data. We can note the units on the docket for your own destruction records.
What we will not take
Some things are a genuine danger in a shear or a furnace. If a yard offers to take these off you without asking questions, walk away.
Gas bottles, LPG cylinders and any sealed or pressurised vessel
Fire extinguishers
Fuel tanks that have not been cut open and cleaned
Asbestos sheeting or anything bonded to it
Chemical drums with product still in them
